THE MOST USEFUL CLASS I TOOK FOR ME

“At the 2013 CanFitPro conference in Toronto I had the pleasure of taking Stephanie’s class Driven to Exhaustion. I took this class because I thought I needed some direction- and I was already burning out from 6 months of personal ‘draining’.
Admittedly when I received the e-mails from her pre-conference, asking me to go to the Authentic Happiness website to discover my 5 biggest strengths I was a little bit skeptical on how I would apply them in my real life… I didn’t think ‘appreciation of beauty’ and ‘gratitude’ as very marketable skills 😉

I soon discovered however, as we worked through the class just how applicable all of it was. I discovered my financial needs and my personal needs did not have a lot in common, and I also discovered some mistakes I had been making in my personal life (re:hubby). Sparing details we had a very big argument before I left for CanFitPro and I did not expect to come home to a happy nest (so to speak). When I work-shopped the session handouts with him after we found out a lot about what we weren’t giving one another (affirmation, attention, gratitude-to name a few things) and I won’t say it repaired overnight 😉 but we’re still married and much happier. I’ve also learned my needs change throughout the year as do his.

Now, how did I apply this professionally? It’s nice to have a happy home but I had financial needs too. By taking time and privately mapping out the needs each of my girls (my clients) had I was able to decide what direction to take their training. Some of them needed a lot more encouragement and enthusiasm than I was giving them- and some needed less. I also found ways to individualize our training routine to develop a little more of a holistic approach. The results were outstanding.
Going back to the 5 strengths test- the first two I really couldn’t find an application for- until I started THINKING about it!
You want to talk beauty? You see the look on a woman’s face when she bench presses her body weight! You want to talk gratitude? How about being the only person woe will likely ever share that exact moment with her?

In summary I would like to point out that it is all still work- it’s called being driven, not autopilot for a reason; I do feel more able to cope with my day to day and month to month goal setting thanks to this class. I took a lot away from my first CanFitPro in 2013 but by far this was the most useful class I took for ME.

My only complaint about the class itself was I wish it was longer and/or there was a part two (why weren’t you at the 2014??? One of the first names I looked for.)
